Needing fairly specific anatomy for this piercing to be viable has made it one of the more obscure piercings available. When done on just the right ear with just the perfect jewelry, it can be a unique show stopper.

To make this piercing work, the area has to have enough tissue to pierce and needs to be parallel to each on either side to allow the jewelry to enter and exit the tissue at a 90-degree angle.  The procedure itself is quick and generally hurts less than stubbing your toe.

We will always recommend a curved barbell for initial jewelry with enough length to allow for swelling. A snug-fitting hoop can be a delicate and pretty option for any healed anti-tragus. Downsizing your curved barbell during your healing will reduce the amount of irritation the piercing will see. However, these piercings can go through cycles of swelling and calm. Keep in mind the more irritation a piercing sees, the more problems you will have and the longer the healing process will be. Utilizing a travel pillow to sleep will help to prevent you from laying directly on the area.
