This is another piercing to take the industry by storm, opening up endless interesting and beautiful placement and jewelry options. Located in the flat upper part of your ear, piercing can be done as a stand-alone or in multiples of 2, 3, or even 4! Only individual anatomy and esthetics determine how many a client could have done. A consultation with your piercer is a great way to figure out the best arrangement and placement for you.

These piercings can be troublesome for people who wear glasses due to the close proximity of the glasses arm to the jewelry behind the ear. If possible, having a pair of contact lenses to wear throughout your healing is recommended. At the very least, making sure the arms of your glasses are being cleaned with either an alcohol swab or even hand sanitizer on a paper towel is highly encouraged.  For those of you who wear masks daily, investing in an ear saver or a mask that ties above your head would be ideal.

The pain level for this piercing is comparable to most other cartilage; the procedure is very quick and usually nothing more than a quick pinch.

Downsizing your flat piercing at the appropriate time is important to keep the piercing healing at the appropriate angle.  Sleeping on the initial piece of jewelry for too long usually results in the angle of the piercing shifting and causing pressure bumps or “piercing bumps” to form.
