These can be pierced with a hoop or a labret stud; again accommodating for the inevitable swelling and as always making sure the jewelry is downsized at the appropriate time.

If you are a smoker we highly recommend quitting, for several obvious reasons, but at the very least cutting down for the initial period is suggested. Cigarettes are a vasoconstrictor and will make your swelling significantly worse, slowing down blood flow and resulting in a longer healing period.

Eating softer foods to keep the piercing from seeing too much irritation is also advised as the more irritation that occurs the more swelling you’ll experience.

So essentially anything you’re doing that is causing the area excessive irritation is advised against; this could include eating foods that are difficult to chew, playing with your jewelry, oral contact with a partner etc.

The procedure for this is fairly straightforward and performed similarly to the other oral piercings.

You will be asked to rinse with mouthwash, the area is cleaned and marked and followed through with the piercing. The many different combinations of placement and jewelry give a client the chance to really individualize these piercings.
