Labia piercings can give a client a few options for placement as the both outer and inner labia can be pierced. The inner labia is generally a little less painful and heals more easily due to the thinner tissue. Although both areas get ample blood flow which usually results in a faster healing time, generally about 3-4 months.

Both areas are traditionally pierced with at least a 12-gauge or 10-gauge captive bead ring. Diameter depends on the client’s specific anatomy and whether we are piercing the outer or inner labia. Although they can be done as a single piercing, most clients will have them done in a matching set or in multiples. Placement can vary between clients, depending on anatomy, lifestyle, and aesthetics. As long as there are no issues, the entire area from top to bottom can make a viable piercing.

The procedure itself is carried out like most piercings: the area is cleaned and marked, clamped and pierced. Marking these areas can take a little longer as we need to make sure the placement of the rings (particularly when doing matching sets) will be comfortable when a client’s legs are closed. When done in sets or multiples, the piercings are often laid out similar to the teeth on a zipper. This allows each ring to sit comfortably and not interfere with the other.

Healing is fairly simple due to the area being so vascular. Do not be surprised if you experience some bleeding and spotting for a few days after.
