Rook Piercing

Due to the placement of the rook piercing, small and tucked away in the anatomy, it can be a rather subtle piercing.

Located in the top inside corner of the ear directly above the daith, it is typically pierced with a curved barbell. However, it can also look great with a small captive bead ring or something a little more decorative.  The studio carries a variety of jewelry options for rooks, but custom orders are always an option if you have seen a piece that you absolutely love!

Healing generally takes around 3-4 months and when pierced with a curved barbell; a downsize is usually required after about 2 months.  The procedure is quick and easy. After cleaning and marking, a receiving tube is placed under the rook (this will brace the tissue and “catch” the needle), then the needle is placed and, after a few deep breaths, the piercing is done. Like most cartilage piercings, a rook will feel like nothing more than a quick pinch.

Utilizing a travel pillow to avoid sleeping directly on your new piercing is advised as the more irritation it sees the more problems you will have.

We pride ourselves in our advanced transparent sterilization techniques and aseptic piercing procedures.

Here at Tribal Expression, we implement the highest possible sterilization standards in Canada, the same standards you would see at a plastic surgeon’s office. We feel this is only right as any invasive procedure can be life-threatening if proper sterilization protocols are not met.

Please keep in mind: With covid-19, you will be require to wear a mask.

We ask that friends and family wait at a nearby coffee shop or in their car during the procedure. Please eat a light snack 30 minutes before your appointment.
