Snug Piercing

The Snug piercing is another of the more obscure piercings and can only be performed on specific anatomy. The piercing passes through the ridge of cartilage that runs vertically between your conch and the outer helix of your ear; that ridge needs to be pronounced enough to allow the jewelry to enter at a 90-degree angle.

A curved barbell long enough to accommodate for swelling is used for the initial period although this can be downsized or changed to a snug-fitting ring once the piercing is completely healed.

We generally suggest starting with jewelry that is simple and will let your body heal more quickly, upgrading to a more decorative piece later on. But, be prepared to put in the time and have patience with this piercing as Snugs are notorious for being difficult healers. Following aftercare instructions and your piercer’s advice is imperative to achieve the best results. Utilizing a travel pillow to avoid sleeping directly on your fresh piercing can help to avoid the added irritation from this.
