Most people are terrified of having their nipples pierced–men and women alike. But when done efficiently and properly, they can be an almost painless experience and a fun adornment for anyone.
The pain factor for this really varies from client to client. Like most piercings though, it is just a quick pinch. Keep in mind, nipple piercings don’t always have to be done horizontally, they can be pierced vertically, diagonally, or both if your anatomy allows!
During your appointment, we will have you stand for cleaning and marking. This is to ensure everything is marked while in a natural position. Once this is completed you will lay down and get comfy. The area is then either clamped or held in place with a receiving tube, the needle is placed on one mark and, after a few deep breaths, the piercing is performed. Jewelry is quickly inserted afterward and the area cleaned up.
Jewelry options for nipple piercings will start fairly basic. A barbell is always recommended for healing, particularly for women. Rings will produce much more irritation. But again, since jewelry has come so far, most of our suppliers are branching out and making much more elaborate and decorative pieces that allow us to offer our clients a much larger selection.
Don’t be surprised if they are tender for a few days and be very careful getting dressed, washing with a loofa, putting your seatbelt on, etc. If you work out regularly, correlating one of your cleanings around a workout would be the best way to keep to only 2 cleanings a day. If you work out in the morning, make your morning cleaning after your workout. And if your workout routine is irritating the piercing, switch things up a bit until your piercing calms down. Listen to your body, the more irritation the area sees the longer the piercing will take to heal.
