By far one of the most popular piercings we perform the most at the studio. The nostril piercing has become almost a staple in society, worn by young and old, men and women alike. It is typically one of the first body modifications for many and can have multiple variations in placement and jewelry. Although we can initially pierce with a hoop, we prefer to pierce with a stud to cut down significantly on irritation and infection.

Nostril screws were the norm in the piercing industry for many years, but as the jewelry industry has advanced, we have gravitated towards flatback labret studs. This offers our clients many more jewelry options and makes it much more comfortable and easier to change a piece of jewelry to wear.

For clients who want a nostril piercing but are a little scared of the pain, the procedure is very quick and feels much like a helix. A receiving tube to catch the needle and brace the tissue is inserted into the nostril. Once the needle has been aligned (after a couple of deep breaths), the piercing is over and jewelry is inserted. For those of you who always want to look your best, keep in mind this piercing will always make your eyes water. Make sure to wear waterproof mascara!

If aftercare instructions are followed, a nostril piercing heals fairly easily. Problems can arise if improper jewelry is worn or if the jewelry is changed too soon. Additional issues can arise if the piercing is subjected to excessive trauma or a client wears a mask frequently. Please discuss any concerns you may have with your piercer before your procedure.
