This is by far the most popular of the male genital piercings and is commonly referred to as a P.A. This piercing can serve several purposes: strictly for ornamentation or used as an erotic turn-on for the piercee and their partner.
The jewelry enters through the urethra and exits out the bottom of the penis just behind the head or just beside the frenum cord on the underside of the penis. A reverse P.A. is an option as well with the jewelry exiting through the center of the head at the top. Typically pierced with a captive bead ring or a curved barbell and starting with at least a 10-gauge. Most men will find a 6-gauge piece of jewelry more comfortable and will end up stretching the piercing once it is healed. Some men will find urinating a little messier with a P.A. piercing. Figuring out the best solution for you can sometimes be a trial and error, but don’t worry about any effect your urine will have on your healing piercing. Urinating can actually help to flush the area of any bacteria.
Healing time for a P.A. is typically around 2-3 months as the area is very vascular. The same vasculature will also cause some bleeding, during the procedure and afterward. It is not uncommon for the area to “spot” for a few days as well, don’t be surprised if this occurs. Utilize the warm water in your shower to easily clean and flush away the area of any blood. If at any time you are concerned about excessive bleeding please contact the studio immediately.
During the procedure the piercer will insert something called a receiving tube into the client’s urethra, this essentially “catches” the needle and guides it out the urethra. This is generally the most uncomfortable part of the procedure. For the most part, the piercing is very quick and the tissue fairly thin making it bearable for most clientele.
